Season Ends in Prescott

PRESCOTT, Ariz---Despite pulling within three runs, the Arizona Western Matadors could not pull out the win in Saturday's 12-4 Region I Final loss to the #9 Yavapai RoughRiders at Bill Valley Field.

A six run first for Yavapai put the Matadors in a deep hole to start and the RoughRiders would add a run before the Matador offense got going.

Chloe Garcia's two-run homer in her final game as a Matador got AWC on the board.

Matadors Advance to Region Championship

PRESCOTT, Ariz---A day that started poorly still ended with the Arizona Western Matadors accomplishing their goal for the day by advancing to the Region I Championship on Saturday.

After losing to the red-hot Yavapai RoughRiders in the 1:00pm game 14-2, the Lady Matadors bounced back behind McKenzie Gray in Game 2's 12-3 elimination of the Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters.

PRESCOTT, Ariz---In a game fitting of the Region I Playoffs, the Arizona Western Matadors advanced to the winner's bracket of the three-day tournament with a 5-4 win over Central Arizona Thursday afternoon at Bill Valley Field on the campus of host Yavapai College.

Weathering some defensive miscues throughout, the Matadors capitalized on some Central mistakes

McKenzie Gray tossed a solid top of the first for the Matadors giving AWC a chance at an early lead.

Matadors Seal 2nd Seed with Split Against Pima

YUMA, Ariz--A pair of 6th inning comebacks went each way as the Arizona Western Matadors (31-16 overall, 19-11 ACCAC) sealed the second seed in the Region I Playoffs with a split against the Pima Aztecs (10-20 overall, 10-20 ACCAC) Saturday afternoon at Charlie Dine Field.

The winning team in each game could muster little offense against the opposing starter until the sixth inning tilted each game in the opposite direction.
