    WBB: Poor Shooting Sinks Mats against USUE

    RICHFIELD, Utah---A poor shooting day bogged down the Arizona Western Lady Matadors (0-2) in a 64-47 loss to the Utah State University Eastern Saturday, concluding the two-game trip to Utah.

    The slow start produced just nine points in the first quarter, and a nine point deficit, as the AWC starters combined to shoot 0-7 from three for the game.

    MSOC: Region Champions!

    TUCSON, Ariz---The Arizona Western Matadors Men's Soccer Team are the Region I Champions in 2019 after a hard-fought battle with the defending National Champion Pima Aztecs Saturday night at the Kino Sports Complex.

    It took 110 scoreless minutes and seven rounds of penalty kicks to decide the Region Champion, but Arizona Western leaped into celebration as the Aztec's seventh penalty attempt sailed high.

    VB: Lady Mats Swept by Eastern

    THATCHER, Ariz---The Arizona Western Lady Matadors (15-14 overall, 8-5 ACCAC) fell in straight sets to Eastern Arizona College (16-14 overall, 5-8 ACCAC) closing the regular season Friday night.

    The Matadors had just seven players on the trip while the Gila Monsters played with great energy in the re-opening of their gymnasium in Thatcher.

    EDMOND, Okla---A slow start found the Arizona Western Matadors (0-1) down by 19 points at the half as the Odessa Wranglers (1-0) came out shooting strong to drop the Mats 91-81 in the season opener at the Elite Eight tournament in Oklahoma Friday afternoon.

    MSOC: Golden Goal Completes Semifinal Comeback

    BOX SCORE

    PHOENIX, Ariz---Down a pair of goals at the half, the Arizona Western Matadors scored twice in the second half before completing the comeback in overtime against the Phoenix College Bears Wednesday night, advancing to the Region I Final.

    The win sends AWC back to the Region I Final for the first time since 2012, setting up a re-match with the Pima Aztecs in Tucson on Saturday.
