Matadors Start Fast in Split at South Mountain

PHOENIX, Ariz--Early leads for the Arizona Western Matadors (20-8 overall, 12-6 ACCAC) turned into a split of decisions against the South Mountain Cougars (22-9 overall, 16-8 ACCAC) Tuesday afternoon.

Dylan Edmands first inning RBI gave Matador starter Elvis Parra plenty of room to work with, as the Matadors would open up to 6-2, before South Mountain rallied in the seventh.

Ultimately, AWC closed out the 6-5 win in game one.

Matadors Return with a Vengence in Sweep of PVCC

PHOENIX, Ariz--Starting pitching set the tone for the Arizona Western Matadors (19-7 overall, 11-5 ACCAC) as they swept the Paradise Valley Pumas (2-27 overall, 2-20 ACCAC) in AWC's return to play Saturday afternoon.

Bobby Vath kept the Pumas off balance early in game one before Joseph Taveras dominated with a 14 K, complete-game performance in game two.

Offensive Onslaught Nets Conference Opening Win

GLENDALE, Ariz--Eight different Matadors combined for nine total goals as the #10 Arizona Western Matadors (2-1 overall, 1-0 ACCAC) delivered a 9-0 route of the Glendale Gauchos (0-1 overall, 0-1 ACCAC) Saturday afternoon in the conference opener.

Michael Adeyeye was the only Matador to strike twice, giving him three goals on the season, leading the Arizona Western offense.

Michele Signorelli added his team leading fourth goal of the season.

WSOC: #20 Lady Mats Stalled by #5 Snow

HENDERSON, Nev--A short-handed and resilient #20 Arizona Western Lady Matador (1-1 overall) squad fell in the final game of their Nevada trip, dropping a 2-0 contest to the #5 Snow College Badgers Friday night.

Halleyson Kap's deep strike from 30 yards out gave Snow the advantage and a late goal provided the insurance.
