Pitching highlight Matadors' doubleheader sweep of Langley Blaze

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 12 ranked Arizona Western College Matadors (31-5) pushed their winning streak to eight games with a doubleheader sweep of the Langley Blaze 11-1 and 6-3 on Wednesday afternoon at Walt Kammann Baseball Field.

Matadors’ pitching held the Blaze to just one run on two hits while the offense scored eight runs in the sixth inning to win game one 11-1.

Fabian homers twice as the Matadors sweep the Bears

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors (29-5, 15-3) extended their winning streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep over Phoenix (19-11, 9-9) 6-0 and 12-4 on Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix.

Joesph Taveras tosses seven shutout innings, striking out six batters and allowing six hits as the Matadors opened the doubleheader with a 6-0 win.

Manzano hits walk off double as Lady Matadors split doubleheader with Mesa

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors (10-21, 5-17) split a doubleheader with Mesa (7-15) 11-10 and 11-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Charlie Dine Softball Field.

The Lady Matador battled back from a five-run deficit to win in extra innings to win the opener of the doubleheader 11-10.

Baseball ranked 12th in latest NJCAA poll

YUMA, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Matadors baseball team was ranked 12th in the latest NJCAA DI Baseball poll released on Monday afternoon.

The Matadors finished off a 4-0 week, winning all four games at the Tucson Invitational Games at the Kino Sports Complex. Arizona Western outscored their opponents 56-5 over the four games which included two wins over Williston State. 

After the perfect week in Tucson, the Matadors are now 27-5 and remain 13-3 in ACCAC play.
