Martinez's big day not enough as Lady Matadors swept by Pumas

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors (11-29, 6-25) were swept in a doubleheader by Paradise Valley (7-27, 7-27) 15-6 and 11-10 on Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix.

Paradise Valley scored the first seven runs of the game, scoring five in the first inning before adding to the lead with a two-run second inning before the Lady Matadors would get on the board in the top of the third.

Matadors sweep Gila Monsters, extend winning streak to 20 games

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 10 ranked Arizona Western Matadors (43-5, 27-3) extended their winning streak to 20 games with a pair of wins on Tuesday afternoon, beating Eastern Arizona (20-26, 9-22) 6-1 and 12-2 at Walt Kammann Field.

Joseph Taveras allowed just one run while striking out seven batters in a complete-game performance to help the Matadors take the opener 6-1 over Eastern Arizona.

Matadors come back twice to sweep South Mountain

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 10 ranked Arizona Western Matadors (41-5, 25-3) won both games of a doubleheader, beating South Mountain (20-24, 10-18) 7-2 and 13-8 on Saturday afternoon in Phoenix to push their winning streak to 18 games.

The Matadors scored six unanswered runs to come back and win game one over South Mountain 7-2 thanks to a big fifth inning.

Lady Matadors comeback attempts fall short in doubleheader sweep at hands of Gila Monsters

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors (11-26, 6-22) were swept in a doubleheader by Eastern Arizona (32-8, 24-6) on Saturday afternoon, losing game one 5-1 before falling in game two 14-11.

The Arizona Western Lady Matadors fell behind early and saw their rally fall short in a doubleheader opening loss to the Gila Monsters.

Matadors push winning streak to 16 games with sweep of GateWay

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Matadors (39-5, 23-3) extended their winning streak to 16 games with a doubleheader sweep of GateWay (14-27, 9-17) winning game one 8-2 before taking game two, 13-3 at Gene Autry Park.

The Matadors scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back in game one, taking the opener over GateWay 8-2.
