Matadors shutout Geckos 3-0 to win fifth in a row

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 10 ranked Arizona Western Matadors men’s soccer team (6-1) won their fifth consecutive game on Tuesday evening, beating GateWay (0-5) 3-0 at Eagles Park in Mesa, Ariz.  

The Matadors were kept off the scoreboard until the 30th minute when they were finally able to break through, taking the lead on Ernie Garza’s fifth goal of the season, heading in a ball off a cross from Asaki Nakamura.

Women's soccer moves up three spots to No. 16 in NJCAA poll

YUMA, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Lady Matadors women's soccer team moved up three places in Tuesday's release of the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer poll to No. 16. 

The Lady Matadors have started the season a perfect 3-0 after opening conference play with a 20-0 win over South Mountain on Saturday evening. 20 goals was not only a season-high but a program record for goals scored in a game.

Men's soccer ranked 10th in latest NJCAA poll

YUMA, Ariz. - The Arizona Western Matadors men's soccer team is ranked No. 10 in this week's NJCAA DI Men's Soccer poll after gathering a pair of wins last week.

The Matadors are coming off a 12-2 win to open ACCAC play on Saturday afternoon against South Mountain, setting a new season-high in goals in the win. Arizona Western has now won four games in a row and has scored 31 goals during the winning streak.
