Matadors suffer first loss of season, falling to Southern Nevada 85-75

YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western College Matadors (3-1, 0-0) dropped their first game of the season, losing 85-75 to the College of Southern Nevada on Wednesday night in Henderson, Nev. 

Najeeb Muhammad made his 2021-22 season debut on Wednesday night and the freshman led the Matadors with 21 points on 6-for-12 shooting, hitting a pair of three-pointers on three attempts in the loss to the Coyotes.

Volleyball falls to New Mexico Military in district final

YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western Matadors (17-8) fell 3-0 to New Mexico Military Institute (30-4) in the Southest District B final in Roswell, N.M. on Tuesday evening.

The Matadors were swept in straight sets by the Broncos, losing the three sets, 25-16, 25-8, and 25-13 as New Mexico Military Institute secured a birth in the NJCAA DI Volleyball National Tournament.

Ndiba named ACCAC DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week

YUMA, AZ - Alliance Ndiba was named the ACCAC's DI Women's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging a double-double last weekend, helping the Matadors to a 3-0 start.

The freshman from Lubumashi, Congo, averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds per game as the Matadors got out to a quick start, winning all three games in the first week of the 2021-22 season.

Men's Soccer receives at-large selection to NJCAA Men's Soccer Championship

YUMA, AZ - For the second time in the last three seasons, the Arizona Western Matadors men's soccer team is headed to the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championships after being selected as an at-large on Tuesday morning.

The Matadors will be the No. 7 seed playing in Pool B along with Cowley County and LSU-Eunice and will open tournament play on Tuesday, November 16 against LSU-Eunice at 11:30 am MST.
