Matadors' Region I Basketball Playoff MVP Miller signs with West Texas A & M

Arizona Western College is proud to announce that Matadors' sophomore guard Knowledge Miller has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at West Texas A & M University next year. Miller becomes the first of the 5 sophomore members of Kelly Green's 2005-06 NJCAA Tournament team to formally announce his future intentions. The announcement was made just days before finals at AWC, and the impending end of Miller's 2-year stay at the college.

Helping Two Junior High Schools Show Their 'Hoops for Heart'

Arizona Western College's women's basketball program has announced that they will be holding basketball clinics on the next two Friday afternoons to help two girls' junior high school basketball programs in the Yuma area kick off their 'Hoops for Heart' programs. The Lady Matadors' coaches and players will first hold a one-hour clinic tomorrow afternoon at 1PM at Woodard Junior High School, and then will hold a clinic next Friday, May 12th, at 4th Avenue Junior High School. read more

Matadors Place Six on Postseason Baseball Teams

Arizona Western College is proud to announce that Matadors' baseball players Bryan Casey, Takashi Matsuo, James Mayorga, Wilberto Morales, Tyler Moyneur and Stephen Smith have all received postseason honors. Casey and Smith were named to the 1st Team on both the All-Region I and All-ACCAC postseason squads, Morales and Matsuo were named to the 2nd Team on both postseason teams, and joining them on the 2nd Team All-ACCAC squad were Moyneur and Mayorga. read more

Matadors Baseball Team Will Host Region I Semifinals Beginning Thursday vs. Pima

Arizona Western College's baseball team clinched the 2nd seed in next week's Region I Playoffs this afternoon-thanks to their doubleheader sweep of Eastern Arizona, 18-0 and 8-1, at Kammann Field. The sweep also awards them the right to host the Region I Semifinals against 3rd-seeded Pima. The Mats entered the day just one game ahead of the Aztecs, who owned any possible tiebreakers against the Matadors. read more

Lady Matadors Place Four on Postseason Teams

Western College is proud to announce that Matadors' softball players Ashlee Ackerman, Courtney Davis, Shannon Galanek and Ashley Likens have been named to the All-ACCAC and All Region I postseason teams. All four were named to the All-Region I Division I 1st Team. Ackerman, Davis and Galanek were named to the All-ACCAC 1st Team, and Likens was named to the All-ACCAC 2nd Team. The announcements were made after postseason conference meetings concluded in Thatcher this morning.
