Men's soccer extends win streak to six with 5-0 win over Glendale

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 10 ranked Arizona Western Matadors men’s soccer team (7-1) won their sixth game in a row, returning home to beat Glendale (3-4-1) 5-0 on Saturday evening at Matador Soccer Field.

The Matadors threatened often early in the game but it took them 24 minutes to break through, scoring the game’s opening goal in the 24th minute when Asaki Nakamura headed in a corner from Cambell Young, giving the Matadors a 1-0 lead.

Nationally ranked soccer programs back at home Saturday

YUMA, Ariz. - Both the Arizona Western College Matadors' men's and women's soccer teams return home Saturday for an ACCAC matchup with Glendale at 4:30 and 7:00 pm at Matador Soccer Field on the campus of Arizona Western College.

Both programs are currently ranked in the NJCAA polls with the Matadors sitting at No. 10 in the latest release of the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer poll while the Lady Matadors are at No. 16 in the NJCAA DI Women's Soccer poll.

Lady Matadors fall to Scottsdale 3-1 in ACCAC opener

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors (2-8) dropped the ACCAC opener to No 4 ranked Scottsdale (6-0) 3-1 on Wednesday night at the House Gymnasium.

The Lady Matadors got off to a good start, taking an early 5-0 lead before the Fighting Artichokes battled back. Arizona Western took their second five-point lead of the set at 149 before being outscored 16-6 by Scottsdale who won the set 25-20.

Centeno leads Lady Matadors to 8-0 win over GateWay

YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 16 ranked Arizona Western Matadors women’s soccer team (4-0) won their fourth consecutive game on Tuesday evening, beating GateWay (0-4) 8-0 at Eagles Park in Mesa, Ariz.  

The Lady Matadors wasted little time opening the scoring, grabbing a 1-0 lead in the third minute when Jaeda Centeno picked up from where she left off on Saturday, scoring a goal off a pass from Wendy Jimenez.
