Matadors storm back for 79-78 overtime win at Pima

YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western Matadors (5-2) outscored Pima (4-1) 18-7 over the final minutes of regulation and in overtime to open region play with a 79-78 win.

The Matadors trailed 71-61 with just over two minutes to play before putting together a run to send the game to overtime. Najeeb Muhammad hit a three-pointer with one second left on the clock to tie the game. Muhammad finished the game with 15 points while dishing out five assists.

Matadors advance to national semi-finals with 3-2 win over Cowley

TYLER, TX – The Arizona Western College Matadors (20-1-0) advanced to the NJCAA DI Men’s Soccer Championships semi-finals for the first time in program history with a 3-2 win over Cowley (18-1-0) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Matadors wasted little time, opening the scoring in the 4th minute thanks to Romaric Berneron who beat the keeper with a free-kick to give the Mats a 1-0 lead.

Three second-half goals help Matadors to 3-0 win over LSU-Eunice

TYLER, TX - The Arizona Western Matadors (19-1-0) opened pool play of the NJCAA Men's Soccer Championships with a 3-0 win over LSU-Eunice (8-6-2) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Matadors got goals from Romaric Berneron, Michael Appiah, and Nozomu Kamei, all in the second half, opening pool play with a win over the Bengals.

Muhammad, Butts lead Matadors to 73-59 win over Colorado Northwestern

YUMA, AZ – The Arizona Western Matadors (4-2) used a big second half to pull away from Colorado Northwestern (2-5) to snap a two-game skid with a 73-59 win on Saturday afternoon in Ephraim, Utah.

Arizona Western boasted four players in double-figures as the Matadors outscored the Spartans 41-30 in the second half. Najeeb Muhammad led the matadors with 18 points and hit a team-high four three-pointers in the win.

Matadors' comeback bid falls short in 82-78 loss at Snow

YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western Matadors (3-2) rallied in the second half but fell 82-78 to Snow College (3-0) on Friday night in Ephraim.

Evan Butts and Yaxel Lendeborg led the Matadors, combining to score 30 of the Mats' 78 points, each scoring 15 points in the loss. The Matadors trailed by 12 in the second half but battled back to take a lead with just over a minute to play before dropping their second consecutive game.
