Muhammad signs with Lubbock Christian University

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western College Matadors’ men’s basketball player Najeeb Muhammad has signed to play at Lubbock Christian University next season.

Muhammad played in 38 career games for the Matadors, starting 35 while averaging 11.4 points per game while wearing the cardinal and gold. The guard from Las Vegas, Nev. scored a career-high 26 points in a win over Central Arizona on April 7, 2021.

Lady Matadors' bats lead way to series split at Scottsdale

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western College Lady Matadors’ softball team (13-38, 8-34) split a doubleheader with Scottsdale (8-34, 6-34) losing game one 15-13 before taking game two 11-4 on Wednesday afternoon in Scottsdale.

The Lady Matadors rally fell short in game one, dropping a back-and-forth contest with the Fighting Artichokes, 15-13.

Teresa Da Silva signs with Tarleton State University

YUMA, Ariz. – Arizona Western College Lady Matadors women’s basketball player Teresa Da Silva has signed to play at Tarleton State University next season.

Da Silva finished the season as the Lady Matadors’ second-leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points per game and averaging 4.3 rebounds per game. The sophomore will continue her academic and basketball career at Tarleton State University, an NCAA DI institution in Stephenville, Texas.

Lady Matadors lose twice to Central Arizona in final home series

YUMA, Ariz. – The Arizona Western Lady Matadors (12-37, 7-33) were swept in a doubleheader, losing 10-2 and 9-4 to Central Arizona (45-6, 36-6) on Tuesday afternoon at Charlie Dine Softball Field.

The Vaqueras used a big six-run inning to pull away from the Lady Matadors in game one as Arizona Western dropped the opener 10-2.
