Matadors fall in NJCAA Men's Soccer Championship final 2-0 to Iowa Western

TYLER, TX - The Arizona Western Matadors (21-2-0) saw their season come to an end with a 2-0 loss in the NJCAA DI Men's Soccer Championship final to Iowa Western (21-1-1) on Saturday night.

Iowa Western took a lead quickly, opening the scoring in the 13th minute when the Reivers took the lead on a miscue, finding a loose ball at the top of the box and finding the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead.

Balanced attack helps Matadors beat Eastern Arizona 87-66

YUMA, AZ - Seven Matadors scored in double figures as Arizona Western (6-2, 2-0) defeated Eastern Arizona (4-3, 0-2) 87-66 on Saturday afternoon.

The Matadors were led in scoring by Marquis Hargrove who finished the night with a season-high 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting, hitting three three-pointers off the bench.

Da Silva, Ndiba lead Matadors over Gila Monsters 60-52

YUMA, AZ - The Arizona Western Matadors (5-1, 1-1) opened their home schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 60-52 win over Eastern Arizona (6-3, 0-3). 

Teresa Da Silva and Alliance Ndiba combined for 42 of the Matadors' 60 points to open the home portion of the schedule with a win, evening up their conference record at 1-1. 

The Matadors outscored the Gila Monsters in all but one quarter, pulling away from Eastern Arizona in the fourth quarter.

Matadors heading to national championship game with 2-0 win over Salt Lake

TYLER, TX - A pair of first-half goals helped the Arizona Western Matadors (21-1-0) to a 2-0 win over Salt Lake (19-1-0) on Friday afternoon to advance to the NJCAA DI Men's Championship final.

Arizona Western won its 21st game of the season and advanced to the national championship game for the first time in program history, beating the No. 1 seed Salt Lake.
