YUMA, Ariz---Ten different Matadors found the net, while four had mutli-goal games, as Arizona Western (2-1-1) let loose in an 18-1 route of South Mountain (0-4) Thursday night on the Matador Soccer Field.
Michele Signorelli had five goals to lead the way while Esteban Franco added three and Alexei Rosser scored a pair.
There were many incredible plays as the Matadors looked comfortable from the start. Franco's first two goals came about thirty seconds apart and extended the Matadors lead to four.
With a 9-1 lead at half, Danny Vazquez delivered a beautiful goal crossing from the near corner into the back side of the net, three quarters of the way up. Signorelli's fifth was off of a corner kick, angled beautifully on a diving header to the near post.
Both of Rosser's goals displayed incredible power; a free kick from inside the circle near midfield that flew in just above the cross bar and a rebound from the top of the box that mowed the grass into the net.
Daniel Adeyeye, Ridwane Boukraa, Derek Fournier, Jesus Sanchez, Ian Murashi, and Arturo Ledezma all left the game with at least a goal as well. In fact, it's the most goals in Head Coach Kenny Dale's tenure at AWC while netting him his 198th win as the Men's Soccer Coach.
The Matadors will look to take the momentum on the road after a 2-0 homestand as they travel to play GateWay at 7:00pm Saturday.
