Mats earn 12th consecutive win

MESA, Ariz--- The #8 Arizona Western Matadors (12-0 overall, 5-0 ACCAC) saw their twelfth win of the season with a 6-1 victory over the Mesa Thunderbirds (2-8-1 overall, 1-4-1 ACCAC) on Tuesday night.
Michael Appiah started the match with a goal on a rebound from a corner kick just 13 minutes into the first half.
With a little over 15 minutes left until halftime, Ridwane Boukraa made an unassisted goal to bring the score to 2-0.
In the second half, Mesa put their first point on the scoreboard during the 56th minute to bring the score 2-1. The Mats fired back in the 60th minute with another goal by Michael Appiah and an assist by Hugo Catherine.
To put even more distance between the two teams, Hugo Catherine scored one minute later assisted by Michael Appiah, followed by another goal in the 74th minute by Nozomu Kamei, unassisted.
AWC closed out the night one minute later with a final goal by Jin Inoue, also unassisted, to bring the score to 6-1.
The Mats will look to continue their winning streak as they come back home to Matador Soccer Field to take on Yavapai on Saturday at 7 p.m.
