The Arizona Western Matadors are now #13 in the NJCAA Rankings, thanks to the poll released Monday.
The Matadors (10-2-1 overall, 5-0 ACCAC) scored a pair of big conference wins this week over ACCAC foes to remain the only unbeaten team in conference play.
AWC went on the road Thursday afternoon and shutout Glendale 2-0 on the strength of goals by Esteban Franco and Ridwane Boukraa.
Returning home for a rivalry match against Phoenix College on Saturday, the Mats held off the Bears 1-0 after Jesus Chillon scored the game's lone goal in the 6th minute. Duro Dragicevic preserved the lead, and ultimately the clean sheet, with a spectacular save on a free-kick in the second half.
Dragicevic, for his part, was named ACCAC Goalkeeper of the Week after completing two clean-sheets in both wins and compiling six total saves.
Arizona Western is back in action on Thursday night, hosting a tough Chandler-Gilbert team on the Matador Soccer FIeld in Yuma. AWC rounds out the week on the road against Mesa Saturday.
