YUMA, Ariz. – The No. 10 ranked Arizona Western Matadors men’s soccer team (6-1) won their fifth consecutive game on Tuesday evening, beating GateWay (0-5) 3-0 at Eagles Park in Mesa, Ariz.

The Matadors were kept off the scoreboard until the 30th minute when they were finally able to break through, taking the lead on Ernie Garza’s fifth goal of the season, heading in a ball off a cross from Asaki Nakamura.

Arizona Western added an insurance goal five minutes into the second half thanks to Terry Makedika who tapped in a feed from Garza to double the lead at 2-0. The goal for Makedika was his fourth of the year, the second most on the team.
