Equalizer Disallowed, Mats Season Ends in Region I Final

PRESCOTT, Ariz---Down 1-0 in the 70th minute, an apparent match-tying goal was disallowed costing the Arizona Western Matadors the Region I Final, and ending the season, in a 1-0 loss to the Yavapai RoughRiders.

The Matadors had a handful of chances but a quick counter-attack in the 55th minute was crossed in front of the net and cashed in by the RoughRiders to give Yavapai the 1-0 lead.

Saturday's Road Contest Cancelled

For the second time this week, the Arizona Western Matadors are out a game.

Chandler-Gilbert can not compete (non-COVID related) on Saturday, cancelling the Matadors regular season finale.

Arizona Western will now prepare for the Region I Final against Yavapai. The location of the game is dependent on Yavapai's result against Scottsdale on Saturday.

Six Matadors Find Net in Victory over Paradise Valley

PHOENIX, Ariz---Continuing an double-digit outburst since their last loss, six different Matadors led Arizona Western College to a 8-1 win over the host Paradise Valley Pumas Thursday afternoon.

Michele Signorelli and Ridwane Boukraa each scored twice to lead the way for Arizona Western.

Ernie Garza, Michael Adeyeye, Burak Cuban and Hugo Catherine all added a goal.

Matadors Net Nine in Route of GateWay

YUMA, Ariz---Pouring in four goals in the first twenty minutes, the Arizona Western Matadors (6-3 overall, 5-2 ACCAC) road the momentum to a 9-0 route of the GateWay Geckos (0-6 overall, 0-6 ACCAC) Saturday afternoon on the Matador Soccer Field.

Jesus Sanchez opened the scoring with his first of two goals in the fifth minute as AWC averaged a goal every ten minutes with unselfish passing and a barrage of strikes.
