Mojus leads Matadors to 65-52 win over South Mountain

PHOENIX, AZ – The Arizona Western Matadors (13-3, 6-1) won their fourth consecutive game, beating South Mountain (8-10, 2-6) 65-52 on Saturday afternoon.
After a slow start for both teams, the Matadors went on a 16-0 run to take a 31-14 lead at the break, fueled by Mojus Mojus who scored all of his 16 points in the first half, ending the game with five made three-pointers.
South Mountain was able to cut the Matadors lead down to nine points at 49-40 in the second half but the Matadors were able to outscore South Mountain 16-10 over the final five minutes.
The Matadors had four players in double figures as Marquis Hargrove finished with 12 points off the bench and Nate Duda scored 11 points, all in the second half.
Yaxel Lendeborg ended the game with 10 points and Najeeb Muhammad scored nine points, seven of which came in the second.
The Matadors return home to face Chandler-Gilbert for the first time this season on Wednesday, January 12 at 7:30 pm at the House on the campus of Arizona Western College.
