MBB: Mats Flex Depth in 86-60 win over EAC
YUMA, Ariz---While the starters played effectively early, the #24 Arizona Western Matadors (5-1 overall, 4-1 ACCAC) rode their depth and outside shooting to an 86-60 win over Eastern Arizona Friday night at The House.
Najeeb Muhammad guided Arizona Western to an early lead knocking down a free-throw, a pair of free-throws, and a pair of field goals.
Marquis Hargrove carried the momentum off the bench with nine first half points while Mojus Mojus snagged 8 rebounds setting the tone on the glass.
The Matadors built a nine point lead at the half, but it was Muhammad who went down on an and-one opportunity late in the period.
Malik Salahuddin entered in the second half and sparked the Matador offense to its biggest lead of the night with a pair of three’s. Hargrove added his second triple and Leo Gerardo chipped in two three’s.
In all, the Matadors hit ten three’s to pull away from Eastern.

But James Dunlop led the way on the interior with 12 points and 11 rebounds helping the Matadors seize at least a split of season series.
DJ Henderson led the way for Eastern with 18 points.
