BLYTHE, Calif----All eleven Matadors who hit the floor hit at least one field goal in Arizona Western's 91-51 road win over Palo Verde College Wednesday night.
The Matadors pull even to 2-2 on the season-opening road-trip before returning home this weekend for the Desert Classic.
Daniel Kiely led the Matadors in scoring with 20 points on 9-11 shooting from the field but it was the Matador's defense that opened up the sizable lead into half.
Arizona Western held Palo Verde to just 15 points in the first half, opening up a 26 point advantage.
13 steals, at least two from every starter, contributed to Palo Verde's offensive woes, while AWC easily recovered their 12 total turnovers on the night.
The Matadors accumulated 57 total rebounds led by Gio Nelson and Tyrell Tidey, who each had eight.
Arizona Western will return home to host the same Palo Verde Pirates on Friday night for the Desert Classic at 7:30pm. The Matadors conclude the tournament against Grays Harbor College (WA) Saturday night at 7:30pm.
Tickets are just $5, or $3 for seniors. Students can enter free with I.D. The Game will also be streamed on Facebook Live @AWCMatadorAthletics.
