YUMA, Ariz. – Abderrahmane Hailouf had his typical defensive night but added a big offensive night and the rest of the Matadors followed with a big second half in a 79-70 victory of the Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes Tuesday.
The Matadors received a bonus home game as Scottsdale’s gym was unplayable.
The offense got off to a slow start for Arizona Western, shooting just 36% from the field and 10% from three in the first half.
What offense the Matadors did get started inside with Hailouf tallying 12 points including a flurry of dunks.
Hailouf also contributed defensively and on the glass racking up five blocks and a game high 13 rebounds.
The game was a see-saw battle throughout that saw the lead change hands 16 times and tied 11 different instances.
When the offense for Arizona Western kicked into gear late, that translated to the largest lead either team had at 9 points as the game concluded.
Andre Allen nearly nabbed a double-double for the Mats with 13 points and 9 rebounds. While Bryson Langdon chipped in 19 points. Cash Williams added 15 points.
The Matadors conclude the regular season at 22-8 overall, 16-6 in ACCAC play ahead of Saturday’s Region I Playoff Game. Arizona Western earns the 2nd seed and will host the 3rd seed in Division I Saturday night beginning at 7:30pm at The House in Yuma,
