Matadors comeback falls short in 62-59 loss at Chandler-Gilbert

YUMA, AZ – The Arizona Western Matadors (24-4, 17-2) saw their winning streak come to an end with a 62-59 loss to Chandler-Gilbert (18-11, 9-10) on Saturday afternoon in Chandler.
Nate Duda led the Matadors with 13 points in the loss while Marquis Hargrove scored 12 points off the bench, hitting a pair of three-pointers.
The Matadors and Coyotes traded leads for most of the first half before the Matadors took a lead going into the locker room thanks to a Hargrove three right before the first half horn.
Yaxel Lendeborg finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points while grabbing 12 rebounds to lead the team.
Chandler-Gilbert would open up a nine-point lead late in the second half before the Matadors cut it down to three with under 10 seconds to play but could not get a last-second three to fall.
Evan Butts finished as the fourth Matador in double-figures, scoring 10 points in the loss.
The Matadors finish off the regular season on Tuesday, hosting Central Arizona at 7:30 pm at the House Gymnasium.
