TUCSON, Ariz---The overcast, rainy day proved ominous for offenses as the Arizona Western Matadors (29-13 overall, 21-11 ACCAC) shutout the Pima Aztecs (36-10 overall, 27-9 ACCAC) before being held scoreless in a split Tuesday afternoon.
Bobby Vath continued to roll on the mound and was armed with Delano Selassa's early RBI knock, allowing him to settle in, cruising to the 5-0 win.
The Matadors were held quiet in game two, mustering just two hits in the nine-inning rain soaked contest to split with Pima on the day and on the four-game season series.
Arizona Western closes out the regular season on Saturday in Yuma, hosting Scottsdale for two games beginning at Noon.
