Marcelo signs professional contract with Range Riders

YUMA, Ariz. - Arizona Western Matadors' baseball sophomore Noah Marcelo has signed a professional contract with the Independent Pioneer League Glacier Range Riders. 

Marcelo made his professional debut with the Range Riders on Tuesday night after spending the summer playing for the Duluth Huskies of the summer collegiate Northwoods League. Marcelo played in 24 games for the Huskies homering twice and driving in 17 runs.

As a Matador, Marcelo played in 56 games in his only season in the cardinal and gold, batting .277 with a team-leading 22 doubles and 10 homers while driving in 54 runs. The San Mateo, Calif. native led the team in stolen bases with 27. Marcelo drove in a season-best six runs in a 19-0 win over Augsburg on March 17. 

Prior to coming to Arizona Western, Marcelo played his freshman season at Skyline College in California where he batted .388 with eight doubles in 20 games in 2020. 

The Glacier Ranger Riders are in their first season and are located in Kalispell, Mont., and play in the northern division of the independent professional Pioneer League.
