TUCSON, Ariz---Errors proved costly as the #13 Arizona Western Matadors (8-5 overall, 0-2 ACCAC) dropped a pair of conference games to the #12 Pima Aztecs (13-0 overall, 2-0 ACCAC) Saturday afternoon on the West Campus Aztec Baseball Field.
Things started off well for AWC as the Mats jumped out to a five run frame in the first. Juan Salazar's two run single sparked the offense and an error pushed across a few more runs.
Pima answered with runs in the bottom of the inning and pulled within one with two more runs in the third.
The Matadors got a little cushion in the seventh when Delano Selassa scored on a wild pitch.
But Pima got a walk and a single in the bottom of the seventh before a series of errors scored three runs to hand Pima a 7-6 victory in game one.
Arizona Western started fast again in game two, leading 6-1 after three innings.
But the Aztecs put up seven run frames in the fifth and the sixth to win 15-12.
Arizona Western will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Eastern Arizona for a double-header beginning at Noon.
