Larissa Rueda named Chapman Yuma Player of the Week
YUMA, Ariz. - Arizona Western sophomore Larissa Rueda is named this week's Chapman Yuma "Player of the Week." Rueda completed her final homestand as a Lady Matador finishing 7-for-13 at the plate with three home runs, three doubles and driving home nine runs. Rueda hit home runs in back-to-back plate appearances in the final game of the four-game series versus Central Arizona. Rueda is currently second on the Lady Matadors in home runs (11), RBI (51) while also playing in all 49 games so far this season for Arizona Western.
"Unbelievable, she got hot," Arizona Western head softball coach Joel Prickett said. "She's one of those that, I'll chew her out a little bit, saying she needs to hit better, and I look at the stats, and it turns out she had four hits on the weekend. She's just doing really well, and her defense has just been outstanding."
Arizona Western will wrap up their regular season schedule this Friday and Saturday when they hit the road for a four-game series at Yavapai.
